The Republic is currently looking for a Data Editor to join its all-volunteer staff. Such person should have interests that cut across African affairs, data analytics and modern media, and with special focus on the multiple ways in which data can lend to impactful storytelling. The successful candidate will work across editorial and research teams, supporting editors and fellows with fact-checking, compelling data interpretations, database building and managing data-led projects.

Applicants should:

 Currently be enrolled in a graduate programme or in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) with a graduate degree in History, African Studies, Development or a related field. Specialization in Statistics, Econometrics or data-related fields is highly preferred;

 Have strong analytical skills and attention to detail;

 Be able to work remotely and as part of a fast-paced team;

 Be up to date with global, African and Nigerian affairs;

 Be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Tableau and/or other data analytics software;

 Be able to commit 8 hours a week
