My Sincere Apologies A Statement to The Republic's Readers

It has been brought to my attention that some paragraphs in my essay titled “Gendering the Wretched”, published in the first edition of The Republic, bear close similarities to paragraphs in William Hansen and Umma Aliyu’s essay “Fanon, the Wretched and Boko Haram” published in the Journal of Asian and African Studies, Vol 48 (3) June 2013.

This is true and thus amounts to plagiarism. I made a terrible mistake. It is a serious lapse and one that is entirely my fault. I apologize unreservedly to the authors, the Sage Journal, to the editors at The Republic and to the journal’s readers.
