Create Knowledge Join The Republic as a Full-Time Editorial Assistant (Digital Publishing)

The Republic is hiring a paid editorial assistant to support with web publishing and social media. Responsibilities will include developing social campaigns, optimizing The Republic’s web content for social media, and building and engaging with The Republic’s audience across Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter.

Our social media accounts not only are the face of our brand, but also play an integral role in how we intend to grow. Our ideal candidate is an organized multi-tasker who can manage content schedules across several social media channels.

The intern position is aimed at a current youth corper, who:

is a frequent reader of The Republic;
has top-tier academic credentials (undergraduate degree with at least a 2.1 preferred);
⎈ is a sharp, analytical writer (editorial experience is a plus);
⎈ thrives in a fast-paced environment;
⎈ has demonstrable online and offline networking skills;
⎈ is able to work remotely and independently while part of a team; and
possesses excellent communication skills.

An understanding and passion for social video, history and historical images/archives, politics, broader African affairs and aesthetics, is a must. Familiarity with WordPress, and social media tools like Tweetdeck, Buffer and Later is a plus. Some media experience is a huge plus.

This is a challenging but rewarding full-time internship position open only to candidates based in Lagos. Our ideal candidate can start as soon as possible, and is able to commit to working with us for 6-12 months. Remuneration for this role is N40,000-N75,000 monthly, depending on skills and qualifications.
