We are currently accepting submissions for our August/September 2019 issue, in which authors will critically discuss the future of work. Submissions with a focus on Nigeria and Africa are now welcome on any of the following topics:
⎈ Africa and the invention of work;
⎈ Digital platforms and the gig economy;
⎈ Side-hustles and new cultures of work;
⎈ Gender, domestic labour and redistribution;
⎈ Entrepreneurship, work and the significance of incubators and accelerators;
⎈ Automation, workforce transitions and ‘new work’;
⎈ Post-work futures (from brain drains to Universal Basic Income); and
⎈ Broader economic issues (e.g. unemployment, the minimum wage and economic policy).
We are looking for analytical and engaging essays, lectures, speeches, reading lists and book reviews that, without sacrificing analytical rigour, can serve as authoritative/definitive subject-matter guides to readers that may have limited knowledge on economic issues.
We expect submissions in the range of 1,500 to 5,000 words and will be accepting first drafts until Sunday 14 July 2019.
