We are currently accepting submissions for our April/May 2019 issue, in which authors will critically discuss democracies in the modern world. Submissions with a focus on Nigeria and Africa are now welcome on any of the following topics:
⎈ Digital democracies;
⎈ Democracies and political financing;
⎈ Democracies and election monitoring;
⎈ Gender, voter identities and electoral democracies;
⎈ Democracies and political ideologies (e.g Is there a Nigerian “Left”?);
⎈ Military relations and democracies;
⎈ Democracies and economic growth;
⎈ Democracies, national politics and globalization;
⎈ Local politics i.e. Democracy “from below”; and
⎈ Democracies and [political] party dynamics.
We are looking for analytical and engaging essays, lectures, speeches, reading lists and book reviews that, without sacrificing analytical rigour, can serve as authoritative/definitive subject-matter guides to readers that may have limited knowledge on political issues.
We expect submissions in the range of 1,500 to 5,000 words and will be accepting first drafts until Sunday 17 March 2019.
Authors of accepted submissions to this issue will be paid at a competitive rate, and will receive a copy of the magazine issue in print.
